Status: This is a full-time; hourly position
Hours: Monday – Thursday: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM; Friday: 5:00 AM – NOON; Overtime as needed

JOB SUMMARY: As the Specialty Crane Operator, you’ll be responsible for moving a variety of granite materials and products with an overhead crane to coordinate the flow of production through all departments. This includes the moving and turning over of oversized and/or odd-shaped products running through the production facility.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
  • Removing any potential safety hazards from the production areas
  • Coordinating with multiple supervisors, crane operators, and production personnel for work priority
  • Operating the crane with the correct belt, chain, sling, suction cup, and/or turner
  • Turning or rolling large stones (such as roof stones, fountains, circles, odd-shaped stones, etc.) so production personnel can complete the finishing process; includes
  • Assisting in loading a wide variety of machines (such as polish lines, saws, wire saws, layout, mausoleum assembly, bundler, etc.)
  • Maintaining an awareness of work being performed in various production machines to effectively and efficiently plan for the movement of products
  • Moving products to the correct machine, staging, or shipping area when needed
  • Assisting with unloading semi-trailers or containers
  • Ensuring that granite placed on pallets for shipping is organized correctly by carrier and ship date
  • Labeling all shipping crates with the correct production ticket and order information
  • Coordinating with the forklift driver to move pallets or scrap dumpsters as necessary
  • Changing the overhead crane belts when required based on wear and safety protocol
  • Reading and interpreting production tickets to ensure stone products are moved to the next stage of production as required by job specifications
  • Operating the forklift to move granite products and materials as necessary

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Must obtain forklift certification - training and certification provided by Coldspring
  • Ability to judge distances, heights, weights, and surroundings (machines, personnel, and other vehicles) to safely operate the crane
  • General knowledge of stone tolerances to ensure the safe movement of stone within the production areas
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another
  • Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Must have general math skills
  • Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
  • Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed
