The May Center for Home School and Center Services in Jacksonville, NC is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Therapist. The individual in this position will work directly with children who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or a related developmental disability. The Senior Therapist provides 1:1, group, and consultative treatment for the children and families based on the evidence-based principles of applied behavior analysis in home, center and/or school settings. Interventions will be individualized to the child and designed to increase social, communication, and play skills and decrease behavior problems. The Senior Therapist works under the direct supervision of a Program Director/Assistant Program Director in the areas of clinical and administrative responsibilities and may also receive supervision from the program's BCBAs.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of individual treatment plan for assigned caseload of clients.
  • Demonstrates competency with Documenting client's performance/response to treatment via data collection procedures and session notes.
  • With oversight from the supervising BCBA, evaluates the effectiveness of procedures using direct observation and data collection.
  • Provides input regarding new objectives as targets are mastered.
  • Demonstrates competency with building programs in CentralReach.
  • Develops data collection systems that are easy to use, appropriate to skills being taught, and include relevant means for data summary (e.g. graphs, plots, logs).
  • Assists BCBAs in conducting skills and behavioral assessments and makes developmentally appropriate recommendations for programming.
  • Assists in report writing during treatment authorization process.
  • Assists in management of daily clinical schedule and staff and client call out line.
  • Supports new hire clinical training and on-going monitoring of staff treatment integrity using competency-based checklists and delivery of constructive feedback.
  • Provides training and consultation for caregivers to implement behavior support plans and utilize effective teaching strategies, as appropriate.
  • Orally presents recommendations to families and caregivers in a professional and meaningful manner (i.e., use of plain language, avoiding clinical jargon).

Qualifications:

  • Eligible to take BCBA exam within the first 90 days.
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Child Development, or related field preferred.
  • Prior ABA experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children.
  • Experience working with children who have developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact with children (i.e., running and implementing physical intervention strategies if necessary).
  • Comfortable working with children who display behavior problems.
  • Understanding of proper professional and communication boundaries in terms of families and supervisors.
  • Ability to defer to supervisors in program development, modification and report writing as appropriate.
