The role:

The AML Sanctions Compliance Senior Specialist will be responsible for process improvement related to sanctions and optimization/testing of sanctions screening settings. In addition, the AML Sanctions Compliance Senior Specialist role will be responsible for performing Level 2 escalation reviews of all sanctions-related customer and transaction screening and determining appropriate course of action in instances of a potential match. If a match is identified, the AML Sanctions Compliance Senior Specialist will conduct comprehensive research and document their analysis and conclusions within the SoFi case management system, escalate to senior management, and file regulatory reports with OFAC as applicable.

What you'll do:

  • Oversee SoFi's sanctions screening and reporting program, including making the final decision on alert dispositioning, reporting true matches to management, and completing required regulatory reporting, as applicable.

  • Conduct Sanctions-related investigations to evaluate whether alerts or cases are risk-relevant.

  • Ensure customer and transaction-related alert determinations are appropriate, fully supported, and clearly documented.

  • Assist with management and training of offshore Level 1 Sanctions team.

  • Monitor Sanctions-related developments from sanctions issuing bodies and coordinate responses when new or changing requirements are identified to ensure ongoing compliance.

  • Support general Client Investigations Unit activities and other responsibilities, including special projects, implementation and maintenance of procedures, training, and ad-hoc reporting related to the SoFi sanctions program, as assigned.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in a related field.

  • 4-6 years of sanctions-related experience within a financial institution or government agency.

  • Strong working knowledge of OFAC regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of BSA/AML laws and regulations relative to sanctions, money laundering, and terrorist financing and the ability to apply this knowledge in a variety of contexts.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and across different business lines.

Specific Skills in:

  • Experience with Sanctions-related customer and transaction investigations.

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Must be able to multitask, adapt well to changing priorities and effectively prioritize workflow to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and changing environment; must work well under pressure.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

Nice to have:

  • CAMS/CFE certification preferred (or willingness to become certified within one year of start date).

  • Experience filing regulatory reports with OFAC.
