Under the direction of the Campus Manager, the Youth Advocacy Coordinator (YAC) at River’s Edge Campus (REC) will support the day-to-day milieu experience of the youth and operations of the campus based on the program philosophy, schedules, policies, protocols, licensing requirements, placing agency expectations, and best practice standards. Assists youth with social skills development and mentoring in the living halls and as a support to youth in their learning environment. ES is responsible for collaborating with REC staff to provide a positive campus experience for all youth. The YAC is part of the REC Residential Services Extended Leadership team. The YAC serves as a role model and coach for employees as they interact with youth according to their plans (i.e., treatment, guidance, learning, etc.), consistently demonstrates trauma-informed principles, utilizes and teaches de-escalation techniques, and serves as an overall resource for the REC group care program. The YAC effectively and efficiently communicates youth program recommendations to Clinicians, Hall Supervisors, Managers, and Directors. The YAC also serves on a regular rotation for Leader on Duty (LOD) coverage on the REC campus with other YAC’s to cover the 1st and 2nd shift LOD duties 7 days per week. When serving as the LOD, may routinely serve in the role of “supervisor” whenever other leaders aren’t present, however does not have any direct reports. When not serving in the LOD role, the YAC will be working within the ratio on their assigned hall alongside other hall staff. The YAC will be the point person for completing Youth Advocate Reports of youth on their assigned hall and will also be the primary contact for youth debriefing practices following incident reports. The YAC ensures sensitivity to the ethnic and cultural diversity of youth, families and employees while effectively communicating and promoting the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of Norris. As a 24/7 treatment program, the YAC position requires the individual to work a flexible schedule in order to support the needs of their hall and the program and understands that their schedule is subject to change to meet the program’s evolving needs at any time, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Education: Associate or Bachelor Degree in social or behavioral science field preferred.

Experience/Skill:
? Minimum of two years experience working with children involved with the child welfare and/or juvenile justice systems with demonstrated physical and mental skill and ability to intervene and manage difficult/acting out behaviors according to agency philosophy and practice required.
? At least one year of Leadership experience preferred.
? CYC certified, or the ability to become certified within one year of hire.
? CPI certified (including holds), or the ability to become certified within 6 months of hire.
? Demonstrates ability to execute, model and teach a Trauma Informed Care approach at a high level.
? Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language well.
? Proficient in the use of technology, Microsoft Office and Google programs and required software applications.
