The State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) is seeking an Assistant Portfolio Manager, Structured Products to join its Investment/International team.

Work Schedule:

8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday, with up to two days per week remote work opportunities.

General Summary:

Under the direction of the director, International Equities, assist with the daily management of the Structured Developed Market Portfolio and implement investment and derivative strategies for the international portfolio. Manage and execute currency hedges. Research and analyze international market data and make investment recommendations based on fundamental security analysis.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the daily management of the Structured Developed Market Portfolio using efficient execution of equity swaps and equity securities.

  • Execute all equity swaps; make swap recommendations to other internally managed portfolios to enhance portfolio returns.

  • Manage and execute all currency hedges for all internally managed developed market portfolios and as required for other asset classes. Make decisions on over and under hedging some currencies based on fundamentals and market related information to enhance portfolio returns.

  • Negotiate and maintain International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) agreements and derivative confirms with all derivative counter parties.

  • Conduct timely fundamental macroeconomic and market-related country data analysis on assigned countries and recommend appropriate country allocations with a goal of meeting the long-term performance objectives of the total fund. Organize data into report format and prepare narrative and graphic illustration of findings.

  • Gather and analyze fundamental industry and company data; including but not limited to, examination of accounting, financial, and competitive factors on assigned international regions.

  • Advise STRS Ohio portfolio managers regarding the investment merit of individual securities and industries.

Summary of Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business administration, economics, statistics, finance, applied mathematics or a quantitatively oriented field required.

  • Master's degree with an emphasis in business administration, economics, statistics, finance, applied mathematics or quantitatively oriented-field preferred.

  • Eight or more years' experience in structured products, currency hedging and/or performing analytical securities research strongly preferred.

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder strongly preferred.

  • Ability to independently conduct research, analyze trends, model proforma financials and make recommendations to other members of the international equities team required.
