Job Description

Summary

This role is responsible for commercial loan activity. Has more limited lending authority and handles more straightforward loans. Pursues business development, account maintenance and loan workout activities. Position has production goals. It is responsible for developing new business, preliminary underwriting, structuring, and the closing of commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio with emphasis on developing and growing deposits.

Essential Functions/Competencies

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate needs of potential customers and offer appropriate financial products, services, and loans.
  • Promote and cross-sell other products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.
  • Respond to customer phone calls, inquiries, and requests regarding accounts within 24 hours.
  • Provide ongoing relationship servicing with current customers to maintain goodwill and gain additional business.
  • Conduct networking activities such as community events, developing relationships with centers of influence and entertaining customers/prospects to enhance relationships and create new sales.
  • Generate new business to meet annual growth goals.
  • Prepare and compile customer information to open new accounts.
  • Gather and analyze financial data to assist in determining the credit worthiness of potential customers for risk and underwriting purposes.
  • Prepare loan memos and documents to submit for loan approval.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of loan documentation.
  • Oversee timely closing and funding of loans.
  • Coordinate and assist operation personnel in account openings, loan closings, resolving credit problems, delinquent payment issues, overdrafts, and other related affairs.
  • Review commercial credits for covenant monitoring, renewals, extensions, annual reviews, etc.
  • Conduct property inspections of collateral as required to insure first, and knowledge of the collateral offered.
  • Participate in loan meetings with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Apply skills toward effective financial analysis of borrower's financial statements, cash flow analysis, and analysis of commercial credit.
  • Perform credit analysis of non-complex credits.
  • Adherence to compliance processes and procedures.
  • Adhere to credit policy and business strategies to make sound underwriting and credit decisions.
  • Effectively communicate with customers for any/all credit requests and/or customer service needs.
  • Ability and willingness to alter behavior and opinions in light of new information, changing situations and/or different environments and culture as well as work effectively within a variety of situations and with various individuals or groups.
  • Position requires high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Individual must exhibit ability to prioritize workday efficiently and demonstrate ability to prioritize and organize heavy workload(s) and demonstrate effective time management skills.
  • Individual must be able to handle conflict in a professional manner, exhibit professionalism in communication skills, and must be able to work under the pressure of deadlines.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; a focus in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of banking/lending experience.
