Position Summary

EBI Consulting is seeking a motivated full-time Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join our Energy and Sustainability Group. The successful candidate will conduct acquisition level MEP facility assessments and perform various commissioning and/or retro-commissioning tasks on a variety of property types, as well as perform field surveys, functional testing and field inspections of commercial, industrial/refrigeration, multifamily residential, laboratory, retail, and institutional properties. Commissioning and/or retro-commissioning requires experience in building automation systems that contain various equipment, such as Air Handling Units, hot and chilled water systems and components, plumbing systems and power and emergency systems. The ideal candidate will also be able to perform other commissioning activities including design reviews, submittal reviews, generating pre-functional checklists, generating functional performance test scripts, performing functional testing of systems and generating necessary reports.

This position reports to the Project Manager and will be a fully remote, work from home designated position. Projects will be located nationwide with the expectation of 30-50% travel required. As such, candidates should be comfortable both working from home and traveling for projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform MEP Facility Assessments and Commissioning nationwide
  • Collect relevant information to document the condition of installed mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems, and determine the condition category that will impact the valuation of the MEP system as it relates to the property
  • Deliver the associated MEP report (project delivery will be in conjunction with other due diligence groups)
  • Deliver cost tables based on standard templates
  • Ability to meet critical MEP report deadlines
  • Ability to travel on short notice (1 week or less), both locally and nationally at times
  • Ability to read and understand MEP and control drawings with sequence of operations
  • Perform industry standard commissioning activities for new construction/core and shell buildings
  • Develop and deliver commissioning plans, field reports, and commissioning reports
  • Develop and perform functional performance testing of building systems
  • Ability to work remotely, proactively communicating with project and group managers
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Excellent report writing and computer skills
  • Ability to complete assignments on-time and within budget
  • Ability to utilize ladders, scaffolding and other vertical support systems as part of construction inspections
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and spend several hours standing at any time

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • 2- or 4-year degree in Construction, Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university
  • 3-5 years of experience with MEP assessments, commissioning, or construction activities
  • In lieu of degree, 5-10 years of experience with regards to MEP assessments, new commissioning of buildings and controls, or construction activities will be considered
  • Commissioning certifications (CxA, CCCP, NEBB) preferred, but not required
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification a plus
  • Microsoft Office experience, including Word and Excel, required
