Summary
The SR Mechanic-Fiberglass facilitates maintenance, fabrication, and fiberglass repairs for our fleet of agricultural trailers. Maintains an inventory of required parts, products, and tools needed for daily operations, including ordering stock replenishments and special order parts, as well as the necessary documentation.

Essential Functions
This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
* Responsible for the proper operation, adjustments, repairs, lubrications, and preventive maintenance required on agricultural trailers.
* Performs preventative maintenance according to established PM schedules.
* Performs scheduled and unscheduled repairs.
* Addresses mechanical, electrical, and equipment problems.
* Perform cosmetic and structural fiberglass repairs.
* Operate and maintain equipment to apply fiberglass resin and urethane.
* Clean, sand, and smooth surfaces, using appropriate tools, such as scrapers, sandpaper, or chemicals.
* Utilizes shop equipment to complete repairs as needed (cutters, welders, milling machine, grinders, and cutting equipment).
* Maintains appropriate inventory levels and materials (parts and supplies).
* Assesses machinery during operation and makes repairs as needed.
* Completes documentation for purchase orders and inventory.
* Reads and understands product specifications and drawings, and to follow Preventive Maintenance Procedures.
* Independently investigates, analyzes causes of equipment failure, and takes the necessary corrective action.
* Completes routine "housekeeping" duties throughout the shift and at other times as assigned.
* Completes required paperwork to document preventative maintenance and daily production accomplishments.
* Mentors other employees as needed, and to work as part of a team.
* Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
* Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental, and safety regulatory considerations.

Minimum Qualifications
* High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 3 years of Mechanical experience to include 1 year of welding and fabrication experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
* Experience working in fiberglass repair and possesses an understanding of fiberglass application processes.
* Proficient in using hand and power tools.
* Ability to read and interpret documents- layouts, blueprints, sketches, and maintenance instructions.
* Ability to communicate effectively with other employees in the organization.
* Required to work overtime as necessary including weekends.
* Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire.
* Required to travel by automobile up to 20% during the course of business.
* Required to lift and move up to 45 pounds.


Preferred Qualifications
* Experienced Fiberglass Technician.
* 5 years of Mechanical experience to include 3 years of Welding and Fabrication experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
* Basic electrical understanding.
* Basic understanding of electrical equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to crouch under, step over, and move around equipment in tight quarters, and ascend/descend stairs and trailer doors. The employee regularly works long days. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 45 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee may also occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment usually noisy and is fast paced.

Compensation

  1. Hiring Hourly Rate: $26.54 - $31.20
  2. Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
