Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings. The Azure Data SQL team is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer who can help define and design the next set of technologies to build a state-of-the-art database to power the next wave of cloud-native modern applications. You will work closely with our database specialists and solve challenging problems to modernize SQL Server Engine. You will enhance Azure SQL DB/SQL Server's capability and performance to process semi-structured or unstructured data such as JSON, XML and free text. You will impact customers that span across SQL platforms from on premise SQL Server and Azure SQL DB in the cloud. ResponsibilitiesIdentifying and driving prototype projects for quick evaluation of design ideas Working on solving variety of challenges from database systems in C++ to distributed systems in C# Improving Azure SQL DB/SQL Server's capability and performance to process semi-structured or unstructured data such as JSON, XML and free text Modernizing Azure SQL DB and SQL Server with new APIs and T-SQL capabilities for data retrieval and storage Enhancing Azure SQL DB/SQL Server's intelligent query processingEmbody our culture and values
