The Opportunity
Main Purpose of the Role
This position is responsible for leading the North America payroll function, both from a strategic and a day-to-day processing perspective. The North America payroll function covers some 3,200 employees across multiple states in the US and Canada. The team reporting to you includes five staff.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivery of accurate and timely biweekly / semi-monthly payroll, as well as ensuring routine payroll activities such as onboarding / offboarding of payees, off-cycle pay runs and integration of additional employees from acquired entities is conducted consistently and accurately. You will set the strategy and ongoing improvement objectives for the North America Payroll function and guide the payroll team to achieve those objectives.

The Payroll Senior Manager must have outstanding collaboration and communication skills, and will partner closely with Legal, HR, Finance, and the relevant operational departments to ensure the payroll department is proactively addressing the changing needs of the business and delivers on a "no surprises" basis. The position will also collaborate extensively with their peers in other divisions, working to improve consistency of payroll processes and sharing of best practices across Marvell.

The successful candidate mentors and coaches the payroll team and is responsible for their training and development. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring "best practice" is maintained in all payroll processes and activities, with a particular focus on internal controls and SOX compliance.

What You Can Expect

Main Areas of Responsibilities:

  • You will lead the North America Payroll team to ensure the successful and accurate processing of payroll for approximately 3,200 biweekly / semi-monthly employees

  • You will partner with legal, human resources, finance, and operational departments on continuing business requirements

  • You will set overall strategy and improvement objectives for the North America payroll function

  • You will be responsible or staff development, including mentoring, coaching, and training.

  • You will establish and maintain payroll process documentation, including SOX, calendars and desktop procedures

  • You will identify process improvement(s) to ensure accuracy and proper controls are in place for changing environments, in collaboration with peers and other colleagues across the Marvell organization

  • You will provide timely and transparent customer service to employees and management

What We're Looking For

What You Will Need:

  • Minimum 15 years of leading a payroll team, with 5 years leading teams in similar publicly traded technology companies

  • Maintains a meticulous attention to detail, emphasis on accuracy and takes ownership over the entire payroll process to minimize / eliminate errors (e.g. W-2c)

  • Experience and knowledge of state labor and payroll taxation rules, especially California

  • Experience with major payroll processing systems, such as ADP WorkforceNow and HCM's such as Workday

  • Experience with managing the integration of large groups of employees from corporate acquisitions preferred

  • Experience and knowledge of automated time and attendance systems;

  • Highly capable and extensive experience in using MS Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Excellent customer service communication, both verbal and written

  • Highly organized and capable of successfully managing multiple tasks simultaneously

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

119,260 - 178,700, $ per annum

The successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
