As Buyer, you will be responsible for the planning and purchasing of direct and/or indirect material to support customer needs/ production schedule. This position will manage select suppliers to ensure on time delivery at competitive pricing while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages and maximize turns.

Your responsibilities

  • Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by forecast and the production schedule
  • Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential supply issues
  • Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory discrepancies and/or adjustments
  • Determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation and material lead times
  • Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development or launches
  • Provide help & support to internal materials areas such as Receiving, Warehouse & Inventory Management to ensure proper transactions are done in the system. (Receipts on time)
  • Manage and resolve issues regarding PO due to invoice discrepancies, returns and/or quality issues within the supplier data base
  • Provide back-up support for supply chain functions including shipping, receiving, material handling and other duties as assigned
  • Setup & maintain material master system planning parameters (MOQ, lead time, safety stocks etc.)
  • Collaborate with internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2 plus years of experience in Materials, Planning, Purchasing, Inventory management etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, Outlook) and purchasing software
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Analytical with a methodical approach to problem solving
  • ERP knowledge
  • SAP ERP experience preferred
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
