Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in Louisville, KY, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world situations while solving our clients' stormwater and water quality challenges related to NPDES, TMDLs and CSOs as driven by Clean Water Act requirements, perform environmental management related tasks, and develop experience related to water quality and biota sampling, data analysis, and reporting, while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling;
  • Analysis and visualization of water quality data;
  • Environmental management/compliance;
  • Design of stormwater BMPs (infiltration-based and flow-through treatment controls) and related hydraulic structures (e.g., stormwater diversion, pump stations, storage);
  • Field investigations, monitoring, and data collection;
  • Spatial analysis (GIS), database management, and programming; and
  • Technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 40%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 10%

Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science (e.g., fisheries, biology, ecology etc.). (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering or natural resources science (e.g., fisheries, biology, ecology etc.). (preferred)
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) certification. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Hydraulic and hydrologic analysis and modeling. (required)
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Water quality data analysis with basic tools such as Excel. (required)
  • A general understanding of stormwater BMPs (selection, performance, and design). (preferred)
  • A general understanding of environmental compliance and management for industrial facilities. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to stormwater management. (preferred)
  • An understanding of urban sources and fate and transport processes for typical stormwater pollutants. (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as SWMM, SUSTAIN, HEC-RAS, SBPAT, LSPC, HSPF, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD. (preferred)
  • Experience with design software tools such as AutoCAD and MicroStation. (preferred)
  • Experience with programming and data analytics programs and tools such as Python, VBA, R, AGOL, and web applications and dashboards. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
