Overview

E2 is looking for a Distribution Planner 3 to join our team in our greater Los Angeles area to support several major electric utility clients. The successful candidate will perform field surveys of existing utility poles and underground vaults, collect data from digital records then apply company, industry, and regulatory standards and specifications to plan the construction, relocation, installation and/or maintenance of facilities and equipment associated with overhead and underground electrical equipment and utility infrastructure. The position will work under the direction of the Team Lead and will report directly to the Department Manager.

Responsibilities
    Responsible for designing high voltage distribution power systems throughout Southern California
  • Prepares scaled work order maps using computer aided design software (CAD) such as Autodesk Utility Design (AUD) and Design Manager (DM)
  • Draws maps using the correct mapping symbols, callouts, decals, proper tie downs, etc.
  • Inputs pole loading information in SPIDAcalc engineering software based on field information and redlines.
  • Consult with other planning personnel to prepare design drawings and modifications as required.
  • Review and assemble work order packages for delivery to Client.
  • Field and gather information for poles based on the pole loading process.
  • Handle multiple assignments concurrently, adjusting shifting priorities, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to collect, organize and analyze information from field walks to generate construction plans.
  • Communicate and coordinate project activities with the project manager, client, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Coordinate design activities for all infrastructure replacement programs, including WCR circuits, capacitors, deteriorated structures, cable replacement, switch replacement, and AR replacement programs.
  • Act as a team leader in coordinating efforts of contract planners, engineers, customers, and all other internal sources for the purpose of creating a high-quality electrical design in a timely manner.
  • Position may require up to 30% travel and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory including remote regions - the coast, desert, and mountains across California.
  • Assist Designers and other team members with technical issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • A High School diploma required.
  • Successful graduate from Service Planner Development Program (SPDP)
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a utility distribution planning function.
  • Experience with reading pole loading sheets and inputting information to SPIDAcalc.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated experience in SCE systems such as DM, SAP, AUD, CSS and knowledge of resource books such as DDS, UGS, ESR, Overhead and Underground Construction Manuals.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and functioning effectively under tight time constraints, shifting priorities, and making critical decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients' business needs.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Pay range for this position is $46.00/hr. - $55.00/hr. The starting pay will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
