Cornell Health is seeking a per diem Medical Clinician (MD/DO or NP/PA) to join their team. Medical Clinicians at Cornell Health provide direct ambulatory primary patient care to students of the university and arrange for comprehensive care for a patient's holistic needs - including their medical, mental health, emotional and social issues. These positions collaborate with community and other Cornell Health physician colleagues, health associates, nursing staff, ancillary and support staff, professional psychotherapist staff, physical therapists, and health educators to provide comprehensive care to students as patients. In their clinical work with students, Medical Clinicians are involved with the developmental, educational, emotional, psychological, social, and academic aspects of students' lives, and often are called upon to interact with parents, faculty and other professionals, both on and off campus in a patient-centered medical home model of primary care delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. with current NYS license, BC/BE in a primary care or other appropriate specialty OR
  • Advance Practice Nurse with current NYS license (or license-eligible), BC/BE in primary care or other appropriate specialty.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program
  • Current license to practice as a nurse practitioner in NYS
  • A master's degree in a clinical specialty or equivalent experience
  • AANP/ANCC or nurse practitioner certification is required within one year of employment

OR

  • Graduation from an accredited physician's assistant program
  • A master's degree in a clinical specialty or equivalent experience
  • Current registration to practice as a physician's assistant in NYS
  • A master's degree in a clinical specialty or equivalent experience
  • Between 2 and 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Knowledge and use of an electronic health record management system.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with knowledge and sensitivities appropriate to working with a highly diverse, young adult population.
  • CPR-BLS level certification achieved within one year of employment and maintained biannually, as applicable.
  • Medical Clinicians at Cornell Health must be willing to consider prescribing psychotropic medications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in and concern for health problems encountered in a campus community, including medical and mental health issues and areas where they intersect.
  • Ability to coordinate with colleagues to maintain continuity of patient care and ensure the appropriate management and treatment of medical problems when not physically present at the health center.
  • Desire to communicate electronically with patients.
  • Experience with and desire to work in a team-based environment, working with varied and diverse healthcare staff in a patient centered medical home.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A PER DIEM/CASUAL POSITION THAT WILL WORK ON AN AS NEEDED BASIS, NO MORE THAN 19 HOURS PER WEEK BUT AT LEAST A MINIMUM OF 32 HOURS PER ACADEMIC SEMESTER. THIS POSITION IS OSHA CATEGORY BBP1; TB1; ERG2.


This position offers a pay rate of $73.00 an hour for Nurse Practitioners or Physicians Assistants and $133.00 and hour for Physicians (MD/DO).
