The Department of Computer Sciences at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applications for a one-year, full-time lecturer position in Computer Science starting Fall 2024. MSU Denver enrolls over 17,000 students, where nearly 60% are first generation and over 55% are students of color. Located in downtown Denver, we are a designated (HSI), an INSIGHT Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity () Award winner for 10 consecutive years, and the only certified institution in Colorado. Responsibilities
This position is primarily a teaching position, requiring a 15-credit hour load per semester.
Teaching involves activities that impart knowledge and critical thinking skills to students. It includes preparing for courses assigned, assessing student progress, conducting curricular review, and supporting accreditation-required activities.
This position includes advising, which involves activities specifically directed to assist students in choosing a degree program and career options, completing their degree, obtaining employment or graduate school placement, and keeping informed of university policies.
Required Qualifications
Master's Degree in Computer Science or a closely-related eld
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of college teaching experience
Demonstrated commitment and effectiveness in teaching and learning
Earned doctoral degree or evidence of currently pursuing a doctoral degree
Experience working with, and sensitivity to, the needs of a diverse, urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from disadvantaged backgrounds, rst-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners
Salary for Announcement
The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $78,000 at Lecturer level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
