Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) is seeking experienced, motivated, and dedicated leaders and educators to participate in the design and delivery of an innovative four-year medical school curriculum that engages medical students in active and novel learning.

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Student Information System Specialist is responsible for the analysis, design, development, maintenance, and operational support of AWSOM-specific enterprise and academic applications with a primary focus on the Student Information System; developing interfaces between different systems; developing reports and other outputs and participate in the development and documentation of new system design specifications and new processes and procedures; managing system-software projects, project planning, project status reports, technical oversight, and scope management.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions Specific To The Position:

  • Provide first-level support to end-users, troubleshoot issues, and offer timely solutions for software-related problems.
  • Work with numerous internal stakeholders to cohesively design and deploy administrative and academic systems. Maintain detailed documentation of software configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and user guides.
  • Proactively learn new integration techniques and architecture trends to enhance user experience and improve efficiencies.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of the application of technology systems and the impact to users.
  • Work collaboratively with ecosystem partners to design and implement integrations with human capital management and financial systems.
  • Ensure that all applications adhere to industry standards and compliance requirements, especially in healthcare and education sectors.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to optimize existing applications and propose enhancements or alternative solutions.
  • A "student first" advocate in the use of enterprise applications.
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field

Minimum Work Experiences

  • Five years of expert experience deploying and supporting Student Information Systems within Higher Education.
  • Knowledge in supporting an ecosystem of academic SaaS solutions, including developing and maintaining various data integrations using solid ETL principles, API technologies and best practices.
  • The ability to understand and optimize complex processes and implement system improvements.
  • Broad, demonstrated understanding of information security principles, regulations and best practices.

Preferred Work Experiences and Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday HCM and Finance, Instructure Canvas, academic library technologies
  • Broad understanding of student services, admissions, advising, and financial aid functions and processes.
  • Experience working in a startup environment

About Us!

Founded in 2021 by philanthropist Alice Walton, the School of Medicine will offer a medical degree-granting program that builds on conventional medicine with an inclusive, compassionate, and whole health approach. The School of Medicine embraces self-care to empower students to care for their patients and themselves and helps them rise to the health challenges of the 21st century with a focus on mental, physical, social, and emotional health. The School will have an attached clinic for training in these concepts. Currently, the School of Medicine seeks to be a national medical school with the goal of welcoming its inaugural class in 2025, pending programmatic and institutional accreditation.

Construction of the 154,000 square-foot building has begun with the goal of completing and welcoming the first class in Fall 2025, pending accreditation. AWSOM will be located east of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.
