Under supervision, performs fully functional professional nutrition assessment and counseling duties providing services to individuals, groups, and families in a public health center or clinic, and performs related duties as require
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Evaluates the past medical and dietary history of clients to determine their nutritional status
* Develops individualized nutrition care plans to address inadequacies and potential nutrition risk
* Provides nutrition education for mothers, infants, and children on successful feeding practices
* Provides and promotes breastfeeding education and support as the gold standard of infant feeding
* Performs WIC certifications, prescribes supplemental food benefits to address nutrition risk
* Provides families with referrals to medical care, social supports, and other community resources as needed
* Collaborates as needed with other programs that serve pregnant people, infants,
* Conducts health promotion activities in the clinic and with community-based partners as needed

Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM - Depending on Location

Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, or a directly related field; OR a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, or a directly related field, plus two years of work experience in public health nutrition or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience provided that the minimum education requirement is met
Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications
* At the time of employment, must be registration eligible Dietitian awaiting full Registered
Dietitian (RD) credential awarded by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Proof of written
approval from the Commission is required. RD credential must be completed within twelve (12)
months of hire.
* Must be a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist with the Illinois Department of Financial and
Professional Regulation within six months of hire
Selection Criteria
This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral part of the interview will be selected
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
