Pay Range: $86,550 - $138,480

General Description

The Network Engineer 2 is supporting the design, implementation, monitoring and managing the network solutions for the customers to ensure maximum uptime. The role can include system configurations and documenting the installation of a new network and maintaining and performs upgrade to software as required.

Technical Responsibilities

Qualifications:
* Strong IT background with experience.
* Previously owned the design of the entire network and built the network up from the ground.
* Expertise in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, and monitoring applications.
* Acquiring computer systems, integrating firewalls, and configuration of equipment.
* Good understanding of all layer2 protocols (STP, VLAN, LACP, etc.)
* Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls.
* Hands-on technical experience working with VPN technologies (IPSEC, SSL VPN, AnyConnect, DMVPN, etc.)
* Cybersecurity experience

* CompTIA Network+
* CompTIA Security+
* CompTIA SySA+
* CCNA
* CCNP

Survey
Perform field surveys and coordinate with client to complete design engineering for communication system
Reports measurement results in actionable form to more senior personnel and management.
Conducts any surveys, inspections, tours, etc. of client sites, as required

Design
Assist in a design process of new networks
Work with comm teams to appropriately model the network and throughput parameters
Maintain network designs for each SLA classification.
Assists Senior Engineers in preparation of Designs, including:
Subsystem Designs (CAD / Panels / Layouts / Wiring / Hardware / Communications)
Plans and Design Procedures and Fixtures for PITCO
Comment Resolution

Testing & Commission
Assist senior engineers in creating and updating testing and commissioning procedures
Preparation of test reports
Commissioning of deployed systems
Development of test fixtures and simulation devices
Perform device testing and signal analysis

Service & Maintenance
Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning
Serves as backup for team members during paid time off.
Perform hardware / software upgrades and replacements on existing systems

System Analysis and Reporting
Documents the crucial working procedures and Troubleshooting of network operations.
Employs basic understanding of network administration as related to business operations.
Assists team members in identifying and resolving basic/moderate Network/Telecom issues.
Interprets and analyzes results versus established benchmarks and goals.
Completes project tasks and assignments to meet project deadlines.
Contributes to own team and closely related teams through quality and accuracy of output.
Performing research on available technologies and products as needed by the Operations or Project managers.
Works with vendors to provide support required to meet internal SLA's

Technical Skills
Working knowledge of technologies such as MPLS, TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, QoS, SD-WAN, Wireless.
Understanding of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) concepts.
Basic understanding of security issues and implications for network solutions.
Demonstrates a solid understanding of how the Internet works, and the associated interdependency of protocols.
Basic knowledge of network concepts, technologies, tools and philosophies, and the ability to design an organization's network infrastructure and services.
Basic knowledge of system development methodology, project management, system architecture an analytical/problem solving skills.

Managerial Responsibilities
Assists senior engineers in preparation of Bids and Proposals cost estimates and supporting documentation

Communication Skills
Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills
Ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients and other network/system stakeholders.

Field Experience
Experience in reading network and connectivity schematics and plans
Experience in reading network installation schematics and plans
Experience in network system startup, configuration, and calibration
Experience in testing and troubleshooting
Experience using basic electrical and machinist hand tools
Experience using testing, calibration, or industry-specific tools and software (spectrum analyzer, cable tester, Alignment tool)

Behavioral Skills

Licensure/Certification
Experience in computer networks
Experience with ticketing and monitoring toolset.
Experience in one or more network related hardware and software.
Standard Office Software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
Standard Network Software (Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI, etc)

Experience / Education
0 to 2 years of experience with a Master's degree in engineering or higher (subtract 2 years from experience requirement)
2 to 4 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, IT, or Computer engineering or related fields
