Job/Internship Description

Location/Schedule:

We are hiring for this position out of the following locations: Houston TX, Navajo Nation (NM or AZ), and/or surrounding areas. This position will be a full-time (40 hours a week) commitment for summer 2024.

Internship Overview

This position will assist the company's Government and Public Affairs (G&PA) team, with a focus on GreenView's activities on the Navajo Nation, as well as Arizona and New Mexico. The selected candidate will gain exposure to local and state government and community relations and experience working in a project rich environment.

This individual will support policy and political research, content creation for meetings, stakeholder outreach, community engagement, as well as general corporate communications projects, which may include messaging, video production, writing, and material production.

This intern will operate in a high-performing, fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate should be able to:

  • Build strategies for local community outreach and identify opportunities for community education and support.
  • Represent the company in local business and community events and educate stakeholders on the company's activities.
  • Create and update community outreach lists, including legislators, state officials, and county and municipal leaders.
  • Schedule meetings, track associated data, and assist with notes during community and stakeholder engagements.
  • Develop digital and traditional communications, messaging campaigns, and political grassroots/advocacy campaigns.
  • Other special project duties as identified and defined.
  • This is a temporary full-time position. The anticipated start date of this internship will begin in May, with a full-time work schedule commitment during the summer.
  • Ideal Qualifications:
  • Fluency in the Navajo language.
  • Interest or experience in clean energy.
  • Action-oriented, responsive, and seeking opportunities for personal and professional development.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Student actively enrolled in Bachelor's degree with an expected graduation date of May 2024, December 2024, or May 2025.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook .
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present and share information with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

  • Ability to collect, organize, interpret, and present data with quality and accuracy.
  • Must be able to take direction from supervisor(s), keep required work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to take on additional tasks and shift priorities on short notice.
  • Strong focus on safe work practices.
  • Able to complete work assignments with moderate supervision in an acceptable timeframe.
  • Aptitude and interest in learning and leveraging new programs to accomplish tasks.
  • Write effectively, and understand verbal and written communications, including but not limited to email.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional overnight travel and frequent travel throughout the Navajo Nation may be required.
  • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and before being employed.
