Job/Internship Description

Location/Schedule:

We are hiring for this position out of the following locations: on the Navajo Nation (NM or AZ), and/or surrounding areas. This position will be a full-time (40 hours a week) commitment for summer 2024.

Internship Overview

The individual will work within the Project Management department in support of multiple engineering projects. This will include supporting the improvement of internal and external development programs. Also, will focus on developing and executing standards associated with PHMSA gas and liquid transportation. Additionally, this individual will support project routing, risk analysis, land and permitting requirements. The individual must possess the ability to associate and communicate with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism. This is a temporary full-time position.

While this internship is largely about supporting the Special Projects group, equally important is the expectation for the selected candidate to gain exposure and experience in an opportunity-rich industry.

  • A variety of tasks the selected candidate can take participate in.
  • A possible path to an Engineering position once the selected candidate has graduated.

The ideal candidate should be able to:

  • Work with and learn from several different departments including Engineering, Environmental, Right of Way, Field Operations, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Work could include involvement in the following areas: streamlining engineering and information processes, data mining, fact-checking, and pioneering new methods for completing time-consuming tasks.
  • Assist Tallgrass Project Managers with review of invoices and budgets.
  • Prepare minutes of meetings and agendas
  • Review of inspection reports and progress
  • Assist with schedule reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of project plans and procedures.
  • Assist in document control.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly, or special project duties as identified and defined.

This is a temporary full-time position. The anticipated start date of this internship will begin in May, with a full-time work schedule commitment during the summer.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Fluency in the Navajo language.
  • Interest or experience in clean energy.
  • Action-oriented, responsive, and seeking opportunities for personal and professional development.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Student actively enrolled in an approved Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering program with an expected graduation date of December 2024, May 2025 through May 2026

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • Must be able to take direction from supervisor(s), keep required work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to take on additional tasks and shift priorities on short notice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong focus on safe work practices.
  • Able to complete work assignments with moderate supervision in an acceptable timeframe.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Aptitude and interest in learning and leveraging new programs to accomplish tasks.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.

  • Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

  • Working Conditions:
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
