Position Summary

Position Location: Mapleton, IL

2-3 Month Onsite Assignment

The Construction Manager should be aware of and understand the following essential and marginal functions associated with their position.

Responsibilities

Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily action.

Utilize and improve the Management System for effective and efficient fulfillment of requirements from customers, regulators and values, policies, objectives and targets.

Incorporate positive interpersonal skills when communicating or interacting with customer, subcontractor, vendor, craft and personnel.

Employ organizational skills that effectively minimize obstacles that negatively impact the project. When obstacles arise, employ sound decision- making / problem-solving skills to resolve the issue.

Coordinate with WC contracts department in developing and implementing contracts strategy.

Oversee and monitor financial aspects of contracts and subcontracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income / expenses, etc.) to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client, through administrative direction of Office Manager and Field Superintendent.

Plan, organize and staff key field positions through the Site management.

Oversee project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy, through administrative direction of Office Manager and Field Superintendent.

Apply innovative and effective planning / scheduling techniques to maximize employee performance.

Oversee planning, scheduling, and job sequencing revisions, as appropriate, through administrative direction of Field Superintendents.

Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client contacts to facilitate construction activities.

Maintain communications between jobsite customer and management.

Ensure smooth transfer of information between office and field personnel.

Act as jobsite company representative; attend project meetings as required.

Ensure that safety performance, quality, and schedule and cost guidelines are reviewed with project staff.

Ensure that required safety policies, procedures, training and orientation are accomplished, through administrative direction of Field Safety Personnel.

Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of Field Superintendents to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.

Travel to and remain at jobsite continuously until released by the Office Project Manager.

Participate in safety audits to monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements.

Review field purchases / field change orders with Cost Control Manager & WC Team.

Participate in "lessons learned" meetings upon completion of projects.

Perform additional assignments per the direction of the Site Manager/Client contact.

Qualifications

Understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes and standards.

Construction Management experience preferred.

Instrumentation/Control Systems or Piping/Mechanical experience preferred.

Supervisory experience.

Experience with safety policies and procedures as well as training and orientation.

Physical Requirements of this position include:
Standing for up to 8-10 hours per day

Education Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and/or equivalent work experience.
