To support the college's broad research initiatives, the College of Education at Auburn University is recruiting a Manager of Research Program Development and Grants. This position will report to the Assistant Dean for Research and will play a crucial role in research proposal development and administration. Responsible for providing primarily research development activities and completing pre-award directives, the manager will serve as the college's point of contact for all pre-award functions including serving as the supervisor for the college's pre-award Contracts and Grants Specialist.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and maintains familiarity with sponsor trends, funding patterns, and funding opportunities to allow for forecasting and strategic planning to enhance the college's knowledge of and ability to respond to opportunities.
  • Identifies and promotes funding opportunities for the college, with the goal of expanding the college's extramural funding portfolio and research impact.
  • Develops and coordinates programs and training activities in support of faculty research, grant preparation, and implementation of funded projects.
  • Works with college faculty to develop and submit competitive grant and contract proposals to federal, state, foundation, and industry sponsors.
  • Develops grantsmanship resources to position faculty for success in pursuing external research funding.
  • Oversees and assists with writing, editing, and proofreading text of grant proposals including reorganizing content for better flow, rewording for clarity, and editing to comply with appropriate style guidelines.
  • Ensures proposals are submitted on time by setting and maintaining realistic timelines.
  • Serves as liaison to the Office of Sponsored Programs for proposal submission and other pre-award functions.
  • Manages grant-related data systems and processes to include tracking and reporting metrics for research development services.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in field applicable to the position.

Experience:
5 Years of experience in developing research opportunities, grant preparation, grant accounting with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and accountability. Must have at least 1 year of experience supervising full-time employees.

  • Knowledge of the nature of research at the university level.
  • Knowledge of externally funded programs.
  • Knowledge of grant policies and regulations.
