POSITION SUMMARY:
The Regional Sales Manager Trainee, initially working directly with the VP of Sales, will be responsible for generating sales opportunities for the assigned Southern region through the use of dealers, prospecting, cold calling, tradeshow attendance and other networking activities.  Utilizing the Unisig brand reputation and the internal technical sales and application engineering talent, develop opportunities and proposals that lead to machine sales.  This position will travel the territory to visit potential customers and existing customers approximately 20-30% of the work time initially, eventually leading to 35-40% travel.  The Southern territory consists of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and New Mexico.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•    Learn the basics of machining, the UNISIG product line and how it fits into the overall machine tool industry
•    Host customer run-offs and demonstrations
•    Manage existing customer database to become familiar with the target market for UNISIG machine tools
•    Use existing customer data to identify and develop new customers and markets for our products within the territory
•    Build and maintain relationships with previous, current and future customers
•    Prospect alone to qualify leads, visit customers, present proposals for our products and services
•    Work with application engineering, technical sales  and sales staff to develop proposals
•    Follow-up on opportunities and provide detailed feedback
•    Participate in trade shows and make recommendations for advertising and marketing programs within territory

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
•    Bachelor’s degree in business management, sales, marketing or engineering plus 3-5 years’ experience in B2B sales, machine tool sales preferred, or equivalent combination
•    Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally approximately 30% as needed
•    Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated capability and interest in mechanical equipment, technical understanding of metal cutting equipment and tooling preferred
•    High energy level, self-directed with the ability to work productively unsupervised
•    Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail oriented

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
•    Occasionally required to lift 25 pounds unassisted
•    Regularly sits for extended periods of time
•    Regularly tours current customer and potential customer worksites whose environments introduce varying degrees of unknown physical requirements and working conditions.
•    Regularly utilizes depth perception, peripheral vision and close focus.
•    Regularly operates a computer and computer accessories
