Position Summary

The College of Business at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications to join their AACSB-accredited program as a tenure track faculty member in the Department of Accounting beginning Fall 2024. Responsibilities

Teaching involves activities that impart knowledge and critical thinking skills to students. It includes preparing for courses assigned, assessing student progress, conducting curricular review, curricular development, and program review, including the use of new technology, as appropriate.

Advising involves activities specifically directed to assist the student in choosing career options, choosing a degree program, successfully completing his or her degree, obtaining employment or graduate school placement, and keeping informed of University policies.

Engaging in scholarly activities is a process which includes activity that brings enrichment to the faculty member and the profession and results in new material that can be presented to students, as well as new skills which benefit the University community and are related to the faculty member's assigned responsibilities. It may include investigative work or basic research; infusion of isolated facts with meaning and perspective; making connections across disciplines; placing the specialized in broad context; making knowledge broadly accessible; the solving of problems through the use of scholarly expertise, pedagogical research, creative exploration and production; and methods for the transformation and extension of knowledge, so long as such activities enhance the faculty member's teaching and/or the faculty member's ability to perform his or her assigned responsibilities.

Service involves contributions to the improvement of the welfare of the University at any level, and typically unpaid public service to the community or professional organizations which benefit the University.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must either have a PhD or be considered ABD in accounting or related field. ABD applicants will be considered with evidence of degree conferral by the start of the fall 2024 semester
  • Candidates must also qualify as a Scholarly Academic or Practicing Academic under the College's Faculty Qualifications Policy. For complete details see Faculty Policy at:

Preferred Qualifications

  • C.P.A. or professional certification(s) in accounting
  • Previous experience teaching and designing courses
  • Previous experience conducting research and providing intellectual contributions relevant to the field of accounting
  • Experience providing service to the professional community
  • Professional experience in financial accounting, audit, or managerial accounting

Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000 at Assistant Professor rank. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
