Accounting Assistant

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world seeks an experienced Scheduling Administrative Coordinator for the Delta Master Executive Council (MEC) Office in Atlanta, representing over 15,000 pilots flying for Delta. The Accounting Assistant provides support to the MEC Administration, Finance department, and MEC Office Supervisor by maintaining accurate financial records, submitting all required financial data filings in a timely manner, and reviewing invoices received by the MEC for accuracy and payment processing. This position will also assist in the administration and reconciliation of funds held in the custody of the MEC and the preparation of financial data to be presented at MEC meetings. This is an administrative position supporting the bookkeeping activity of the office.

Minimum Requirements:

    High school diploma or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Some college preferred.
  • Two (2) years prior or related experience with an emphasis on business math and accounting strongly preferred, three (3) or more preferred.
  • Software: Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of internal and external contacts.
  • Customer/member service experience strongly preferred along with ability to work productively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively on assigned tasks, without close supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and follow-through skills, with the ability to handle multiple detailed tasks while under deadline pressure.

Constantly operates a computer/smartphone/tablet. Regularly required to maintain a stationary position; move about the office; determine what others have said or written; and, converse with others and exchange accurate information.

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel locally. May also include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases. Required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.).

Sporadically and/or while on travel, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, boxes, cases, files, and/or luggage weighing as much as 50 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
