Job Description

ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is looking for a Measurement & Verification (M&V) Engineer to join our Corporate Measurement and Verification Team. This position will be virtual. Occasional travel, approximately 40%, including overnight stays depending on project is required.

The M&V Engineer is responsible for verifying equipment performance, tracking energy savings, conducting contractual annual M&V activities, and producing accurate high quality M&V reporting for assigned projects. The M&V Engineer will be knowledgeable of energy saving strategies, statistical analysis, and application of Government Agency specific guidance. The M&V Engineer must possess strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities to demonstrate comprehension of engineering principles, baseline development, and energy consumption evaluation. This position requires an individual to be self-motivated and able to work independently, but must also be able to interface and effectively communicate directly with development engineers, installation team members, M&V engineers and clients.

The essential functions of the position include:

  • Monitors building automation systems, HVAC equipment, lighting, AMI Metering and power generation equipment.
  • Manages tools & processes that ensure timely collection and accurate data entry of facility trend data, utility bills or other monitored consumption sources for M&V portfolios.
  • Proactively reviews and/or interprets problems or patterns related to utility bills and energy consumption to limit risk and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. As appropriate, solves issues or elevates to appropriate senior M&V engineering members for team review and resolution.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical customers, both internally and externally.
  • Understanding of Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) and International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) concept and guiding principles

Your background includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical field & 2+ years of experience in HVAC/Performance Contracting/Utility report writing & business organization, or 5+ years proven track record of performance in Mechanical Systems data collection/operation & building systems or operations
  • Strong statistical analysis and excellent interpersonal communication, analytical and sound business writing skills required. CEM in process, EIT preferred.
  • Requires a responsible, self-starter who can handle multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge includes HVAC controls systems, energy management control systems, data management and use of energy measurement tools
  • Proficient use of Microsoft suite of products
