Summary:

This Counselor/Therapist will work as part of our Palliative Care team whose purpose is to relieve suffering (in all its dimensions) to enhance the quality of life and provide supportive counseling for parents/caregivers, families, and children living with life-threatening or complex chronic conditions. The Therapist will provide psychosocial assessments, perform individual and family therapy, cognitive supportive therapy, and crisis intervention services for patients and their families. The therapist will advocate for interventions that alleviate the burdens of disease and enhance coping for children with life-threatening conditions and their families. Must possess a good understanding of community services, resources, and programs available to children living with life-threatening conditions and their families. Note: This position will adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics and participate in professional development activities (especially those pertinent to pediatric Palliative Care).


Required Education/Experience:

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience working with children or adults living with life-threatening or complex chronic conditions and their families. (Hospice and/or end-of-life care) or similar.

  • Experience working with interdisciplinary care teams.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.


Required Licensure/Certification/:

  • LCSW or LPC Licensed within TX

  • C.P.R. certification
