We are currently seeking a talented individual for transportation planning based in Phoenix, AZ, but interested in working in Texas and other locations with Stanley Consultants' offices. This position will provide transportation planning services for public clients and develop planning-level and preliminary concepts for multimodal and community-focused transportation projects. The successful candidate will enjoy developing close client and staff relationships, providing creative approaches to project development, maintaining stewardship responsibility during project execution, and a personal dedication to serving client needs.

Must be able to work effectively and communicate regularly with clients and federal, state, and local agencies, and possess a proven track record of successful transportation project development. This position offers exciting challenges and opportunities for building the planning group and assisting in transportation market business development.

Essential duties include:

  • Transportation planning focused on statewide and metropolitan planning, community and regional planning, asset management, corridor studies, freight and goods movement, performance-based planning and programming.
  • Planning and programming projects ranging from rural transportation issues to complex urban solutions with multi-modal opportunities.
  • Oversight and management of complex planning projects which include research, analyses, and preparation of public-facing documents and other client deliverables.
  • Application of data analysis, site assessment, design concepts, and community engagement best practices in transportation planning.
  • Long-range planning, short-range programming, performance measures, needs assessment, economic analysis, system reliability and resilience,
  • Work with local, state, and federal partners and the public to deliver transportation projects.
  • Serve, as required, as the Project Manager, Project Lead, or Task Lead in the development of transportation studies.
  • Assist with major project pursuits and new business development. Identify potential projects and develop strategies to win these projects.
  • Assist in the development of proposals and interview participation in Arizona, Texas, and in other offices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key planning clients.
  • Provide planning support to the local and national planning practice area.

Background requirements include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning or equivalent. Master of Science degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant transportation planning work experience.
  • AICP certification preferred.
  • Must have experience working on ADOT and TXDOT planning and programming projects.
  • Experience working with travel demand forecasting software and GIS is a plus.
  • Established relationships with and experience working on DOT, municipal, and MPO projects in Arizona and Texas.
  • Strong oral communication and technical writing skills.
  • Experience writing grant applications for public clients is a plus.

Base Compensation: $107,000 - $169,000
