Summary:

As a Research Psychologist II supporting the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) in Fort Novosel, AL, you will be an integral part research endeavors. Leveraging your expertise in psychological research methods and analysis, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and conduct studies, analyze data, and contribute to the development of evidence-based solutions.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

    Obtain knowledge in a relevant field of experimental psychology and have experience working in a research laboratory.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in experimental psychology (e.g., basic behavioral and cognitive processes, learning, memory, perception, attention, problem-solving, and motivation).
  • May be required to manage some aspects of the research laboratory, including technicians and other junior scientists.
  • May be expected to execute their assigned projects, as a Principal Investigator, by developing protocols, completing data collection, data analyses, and report generation.
  • Expected to write proposals, reports, and publications, and present their findings in meetings.
  • Assist WPG research staff in developing and executing research protocols and test plans, some of which may involve human subjects, in support of WPG research and/or T&E projects.
  • Provide services to coordinate research protocols and/or test plans involving human subjects or animals at external agencies.
  • Assist Project Lead in executing the research protocol or test plan, including, but not limited to, development of the research or test methodology, data collection, data analysis, and reporting the findings.
  • May be required, on written authority of the Laboratory Commander, to fly on military aircraft or ride in military vehicles to conduct testing/studies.
  • May be required to travel CONUS or O-CONUS to conduct testing, attend working groups meetings, workshops, conferences, or other relevant meetings.
  • Perform a variety of complicated tasks.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Possesses attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of research methodologies and ethical considerations.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure research funding is a plus.


Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):

  • Master's degree in psychology.
  • Must have at least 1 year of research experience.
  • Must be able to conduct statistical analysis of research data using statistical software programs such as SPSS, R, etc.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral Degree in psychology or related field.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software
