Position Title: Engineer - Server and Storage 3

Reporting Manager: Manager- Data Center

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Designs, plans, deploys and supports highly available (24x7x365) and secure server and storage systems, server farms, and associated applications on prem and in the cloud

2. Provides day-to-day management of the server and storage infrastructure and operational support for all server and storage infrastructure systems on prem and in the cloud, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and operational

3. Provides data center support, including but not limited to, site inspections, hardware installation, cabling, and resource management

4. Supports and maintains storage and replication strategy which includes Storage Area Network, Distributed File System, and Log Shipping

5. Responsible for Group Policy Management for all functional business groups

6. Responsible for planning and implementing system backup and recovery strategy

7. Defines and implements server virtualization strategy
8. Oversees the inventory and deployment of server and storage equipment, applications, and services on prem and in the cloud

9. Manages vendor relationships in support of the server and storage infrastructure

10. Procures and receives server and storage equipment

11. Collaborates with business unit leaders to define requirements and evaluates business problems to design appropriate server and storage solutions

12. Formulates, designs, and implements plans to ensure server and storage infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements

13. Responsible for performance monitoring utilizing appropriate tools, metrics interpretation, the implementation of performance tuning and the reporting of metrics to management

14. Develops technical documentation, internal standards, and reports as requested by management
15. Recognizes and troubleshoots problems with server and storage hardware, applications, and associated services and works to resolution
16. Acts as information source and mentor for other team members, providing support and guidance for situations or tasks that are complex in nature

17. Cultivates and disseminates knowledge of server and storage equipment and usage best practices
18. Researches, evaluates, and recommends new technology solutions to address emerging business and technical needs.

19. Keeps up-to-date with current storage, applications, and operations trends and technologies and is able to advise on architecture, standards, and planning infrastructure future roadmaps

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering or similar discipline or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Technology Association

Experience: Seven (7) or more years of experience in a LAN/WAN environment with server and storage experience in a large, complex environment. Experience with Azure Cloud Computing is highly preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Server OS, Open VMS, Active Directory, DFS, DNS, DHCP, VMWare, Exchange, SharePoint, Citrix, virtualization, data deduplication, archiving, replication/snapshot services, encryption.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1.High level of attention to detail.
2.Self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
3.Working knowledge of server and storage topologies.
4.Excellent communication skills, using appropriate business language to effectively provide timely information to appropriate parties as needed.
5.Must have the ability to travel to remote offices and to attend training conferences and classes.
6.Ability to set goals, prioritizes tasks effectively and manages time to fulfill commitments.

7. Strong proficiency in:

Server and Server virtualization, storage, and backup, Microsoft, Active Directory, O365, Citrix, Private, public, and hybrid cloud computing environment

8. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are required.

9. Must have the ability to learn new software and hardware packages and adapt to changes in technology.

10. Regular and reliable attendance is required.

11. Keen attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

12. Demonstrates effective time management.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to stand, walk, and sit. An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds to perform essential position functions.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This position requires ongoing testing and upgrading multiple systems.
Participate in an on-call rotation that will often occur after hours, overnight, and/or during weekend hours (Saturday and Sunday). Federal holidays included.
Travel up to 10 % or as needed.
