Summary:

Goldbelt Frontier is seeking a Public Health Demographer to provide demographic data analysis for determining the health status of American Indians and Native Alaskans through statistical analysis and assessment. These services are needed to calculate and report accurate mortality, natality and related natality phenomena rates by age, sex, administration regions of IHS and cause(s) of death for American Indians/Alaska Natives in the IHS service area.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

ssential Job Functions:

    Conduct demographic research analysis services to include custom statistical programming with confidential data
  • Programming calculations of demographic data tables from Government provided data using Government methods and reporting
  • Develop, generate and provide statistical programs and data files to the IHS
  • Assist the Division of Program Statistics with computing, analyzing, reporting and documenting population health measures
  • Actively participate in discovering and applying standardization methods in calculating natality rates
  • The Contractor will actively participate in discovering and applying standardization methods in calculating natality rates, requiring knowledge of public health demography and epidemiological methods sufficient to explore standardization techniques and apply them in practice to existing data. The Contractor will be provided with and apply adjustment factors to the Mortality and Linked Birth/Infant Death Files provided by CDC or NIH. Once misclassification correction approaches are solved, the Government will provide relevant Natality files. This effort will require detailed statistical programming skills to prepare adjusted multiyear Al/AN mortality files, including computer programming steps that will involve using the linked birth/infant death files, which are used to prepare adjusted counts for Al/AN infant death
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiarity working with Mortality and Linked Birth/Infant Death data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with healthcare stakeholders
  • Knowledge of public health demography and epidemiological methods

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active certification in Demography
  • 2 years of related professional experience
  • Computer language programming skills (SAS strongly preferred, SPSS, STATA, R or possibly Python, SQL)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Public Health, Demography or relevant area of study

Salary range for this position is $64,000.00-$74,000.00 annually
