Job Goals:

The EHS Engineer II position encompasses a diverse range of duties to ensure the health and safety of employees as well as environmental protection. This role involves orchestrating and overseeing initiatives related to environmental, health, and safety matters, along with ensuring adherence to relevant local, state, federal, and corporate regulations. A proactive approach is taken in fostering safety consciousness, disseminating best practices, conducting training sessions, and rolling out new EHS-related programs. The EHS Engineer II spearheads activities in Health and Safety, Environmental Management, and Risk Prevention. Additionally, this position plays a supportive and contributory role in regionally and globally driven EHS projects and programs, including North American EHS and High-Performance Solutions EHS initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Program Development and Management: Enhancing and updating the facility's health, safety, and environmental programs, aligning procedures, records, and documents with ISO 14000 Environmental Management System standards.
  • Training and Education: Organizing and executing comprehensive training sessions on health, safety, and environmental protocols, actively promoting, and integrating both existing and new program elements across the site.
  • Incident Analysis and Correction: Leading investigations into workplace incidents, formulating corrective action plans, and equipping supervisors and managers with improved investigative skills through targeted training.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal environmental regulations, managing emission and waste discharge reports, and fulfilling corporate reporting obligations. Establishes strong collaborations with local and state authorities and secures all essential EHS certifications for the site.
  • EHS Coordination and Risk Management: Collaborating with various departments to manage EHS and risk prevention projects, devising strategies to enhance compliance, and implementing measures to mitigate or eliminate identified risks.
  • Risk Assessment and Compliance Monitoring: Conducting detailed risk evaluations, developing tailored action plans to address risks, and performing regular follow-ups to ensure sustained compliance with established standards.

Essential Requirements for the Position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline, Safety and/or Environmental Sciences preferred.
  • 3 years proven expertise in creating, executing, and managing a comprehensive safety program within a manufacturing environment.
  • Skilled in conducting environmental reporting in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated strength in analytical thinking complemented by advanced computer skills.
  • Exceptional communication abilities paired with robust team-building skills, capable of training individuals at various organizational levels.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment, adept at assessing safety and environmental risks, and recommending control improvements using a structured risk and gap reduction methodology.
  • Well-honed problem-solving skills coupled with strong organizational abilities.
  • Proven capacity to lead and actively contribute to teams, effectively coordinating with different departments to achieve EHS objectives for the site.
  • License/Certifications:
    • Toxic Use Reduction Planner (TURP) Certification
    • Certified in Radiation Safety
    • OSHA 8-hour, HAZWOPER, and Incident Commander Certifications
    • Method 9 Opacity Certification Holder
    • Hoisting Operators License
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

To make sure nothing is forgotten

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position, which is $77,400 to $120,100 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $85,140 - $132,110. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
