Job Description:

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking two (2) qualified licensed professional engineers to support the Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations (FEMO) Branch at NASA's historic Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) https://www.nasa.gov/armstrong/ located in Edwards, CA. AFRC is best known as the site where Chuck Yeager became the first person to break the sound barrier, flying the Bell-X1 aircraft and has been instrumental in the recent innovations of the X-59 aircraft, which not only breaks the sound barrier but through its demonstrator flights will attenuate sonic booms, allowing for commercial supersonic flight over populated areas throughout the U.S. The work done at AFRC will significantly change how we think of flight, again. Come join our team at NASA, where your talents can flourish in an environment awarded a Best Place to Work for 11 years in a row.

Under Task Order 5 of the Engineering and Technical Support Services contract (ETSS), successful candidates in the disciplines of mechanical and electrical engineering will perform requirements planning, large scale third-party design oversight, internal project design, construction oversight and operational start-up activities. Responsibilities include identifying and ensuring relevant construction codes and standards are included in accordance with NASA policy and procedures and to determine code sections relevant to the particular facility work and advise FEMO engineers, architects, and operations specialists on the appropriate application of those code sections to the facility work. Responsibilities also include reviewing third party designs and providing input to minimize construction project disruption and avoid property loss and waste. In addition, the engineers will identify and apply code content/requirements when performing quality assurance (e.g., document reviews, work product inspections, witnessing system tests, observing construction work, observing maintenance work, etc.). This is a full-time onsite position at NASA Armstrong located in Edwards, CA with some hybrid potential.
