Description
SUMMARY

Responsible for strategically identifying, evaluating, and securing intellectual content in the development of new and current products, programs, and services for AMPP conferences and events. Leads all AMPP conference program development efforts and staff that specializes in researching, developing, and securing forward thinking programming, presenters, and partnerships. This is done in a manner that ensures fresh, relevant, and desired content that drives value and return on investment for conference attendees, authors, and presenters while also meeting organizational key objectives and revenue goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop, propose, and execute conference and event programs, content, and agenda that are in line with AMPP's mission and strategic plan - to include identification, evaluation, and acquisition of content, authors, speakers, presenters, and technical papers for development of competitive and successful conferences and events.
  • Partner with Content Management team on all aspects of technical paper production - service level agreements, production timeframes and expectations, content deliverables, intellectual property form requirements, and post event tasks - with special attention to any co-administered or co-sponsored events. (All of these elements will require an element of implementation and testing as new processes continue to launch.)
  • Coordinate development and planning of events with all appropriate and related AMPP product, program, and service areas.
  • Oversee the development and creation of thorough, fact/data-based business plans for new and current conferences and events with an aim at improving the overall customer experience. Conduct competitive analysis and maintain awareness of industry trends, initiating actions to achieve department and organizational objectives.
  • Establish a network of technology / subject matter experts and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to monitor the landscape of the industries and constituencies served by AMPP so as to build desired content in which others will invest.
  • Coordinate budgets and accurate forecasts with Conferences, Exhibits, and Sponsorships team demonstrating sound fiscal recommendations.
  • Implement and maintain a communications plan to ensure authors, speakers, and presenters receive pertinent information in a timely manner. Plan should cover key communications, program content deadlines and updates, as well as copyright transfer and speaker agreement completion.
  • Recruit Conferences and Events Program Committee participants and interested parties to enhance the engagement, participation, and understanding of current industry trends and new/emerging technologies.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to travel 35% of the time. Must be able to secure a Passport if not already acquired.

Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Education, or Business, preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years' of technical program/content development and management experience
  • Program Management (PgMP) or Project Management (PMP) certification desired

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to work with and manage global industry asset owners, engineers, material scientists, contractors, suppliers, consultants, members, volunteers, and staff to achieve content objectives. Strong business acumen and research skills and the ability to operate in a global business climate. Establishing priorities, applying quality metrics, meeting deadlines, and identifying best practices and common needs that lead to smooth transitions from development phase to production and execution phases. Ability to work in a multi-task environment taking into account various external factors and to communicate efficiently and accurately to both managers/supervisors and subordinate staff. Must be computer literate with knowledge and experience in word processing and spreadsheet softwares. Ability to learn and use association specific software. Excellent proofreading and/or editing skills. Understanding of marketing concepts and sales strategies is a plus.
