Our technicians work a Compressed Work Week (CWW). This means that each pay period you work three 12-hour shifts one week, and four 12-hour shifts the following week*. Per Oregon law, you will be eligible for Overtime Pay (1.5X Hourly Rate) for all time worked over 10 hours in one shift. Shifts available:
Back Half Nights - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, every other Saturday, 5:00pm - 5:15am
PURPOSE:
The Probes PCB Assembler is responsible for assembling complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems including assembly, soldering, testing and calibration. Our technicians work from schematics, diagrams or written and verbal instructions to accurately assemble microscopic components into electronic test products. This role requires strong assembly skills for very small, fragile, high tolerance components, the ability to derive, validate, and document component tolerances, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment. This role also serves as an assembly expert and is expected to train other technicians in most assembly operations as well as participate in process improvements to improve yield and work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Construct Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assemblies, including the addition of components and electronic and mechanical assemblies. Hand solder various size components including wire,
  • Electronic components, and integrated circuits, including through hole and surface mount technology (SMT) components.
  • Install solid, braided, and coaxial wiring onto PCB assemblies. This includes cutting, bending, forming, and soldering as documented per build instructions.
  • Operate laser cutting equipment per documented procedure to cut wiring channels in PCBs.
  • Perform simple math calculations to assess tolerance stack summation.
  • Assemble small parts and components using a microscope and specialized jigs, fixtures, and hand tools.
  • Attain expert PCB assembler level and train other technicians in assembly areas.
  • Work with and provide feedback to engineering on manufacturing processes and procedures to improve yield and assembly time.
  • Read assembly documentation and understand Bill of Material lists and assembly documentation.
  • Set up and run tests to validate build specifications.
  • Make mechanical adjustments such as shimming and grinding to meet component specifications.
  • Collect, organize, and evaluate Statistical Process Control (SPC) data.
  • Set up and operate specialized equipment per documented processes.
  • Safely handle chemicals such as solvents and adhesives while adhering to all safety rules and procedures.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with small parts assembly.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with soldering components onto PCB's including SMT components and solid and braided core wiring, as well as coax cable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical assembly practices.
  • Demonstrated experience meeting aggressive deadlines and tight time frames.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in balancing changing priorities in a manual process environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to read, comprehend, and execute complex work instructions.
  • Experience with Microsoft products (Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and Word).
  • Able to sit for extended periods and work under a microscope.
  • Able to wear safety lab equipment such as lab smock, hair covering, shoe covering, and gloves.
  • Able to perform detailed visual inspection tasks.
  • Able to work overtime as needed to support production schedule.
  • Able to respond quickly in the case of an emergency such as a chemical spill, building evacuation or power outage.
  • Experience using electronic measurement tools such Digital Multi-meter, micrometer, variable power supplies, and etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and understand Bill-of-Material, Assembly Drawings, Schematics, and all other relevant Assembly documentation.
  • IPC-7711/7721 or J-STD CERTIFICATION PLUS (Not Required)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to work continuously inside a clean room environment with chemicals while wearing protective clothing (Smock, Hairnet, Gloves, etc.).
  • Ability to work at a microscope for extended periods of time up to 80% per shift depending on station assigned.
  • Ability to read work instructions and perform both written and computer documentation.
  • Ability to push and pull 10-15 lbs.
  • Ability to perform routine lifting of 6 lbs. materials.
The pay range for this role in Beaverton, OR is between $21.20 and $27.85. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
