How you'll make an impact:

The successful candidate will apply their experience in working with software requirements, software development and software test development teams with the responsibility of new software products which assist our customers integrating SXM technology, software, products, and tools into customer systems and designs. Additional responsibilities including providing ongoing status of features going through the Software Development Lifecycle, guiding test development capacity, participating in technical product solutions and working with teams to identify and implement process improvements.

What you'll do:

The Software Technical Program Manager will be primarily responsible for ensuring the deliverables for the development and execution of software for SiriusXM Satellite Radio systems. Typical duties of the Software Technical Program Manager will include:

  • Contribute and oversee a team which: Designs, implement, test, and documentation of software, which is used to develop, prototype, validate SXM satellite technology. Additionally, this team will assist customers integrating SiriusXM technology into their systems and products.
  • Support the full software development lifecycle from initial requirements definition through software release and end-user support.
  • Track word schedules and provide regular communication status of features the team is to deliver and coordinate with other Technical Program operations within the organization on overall system delivery.
    • Work with team members to solicit, capture and document the delivery of new work break down estimates for requirements, software product development, software test development and supporting documentation.
    • Work with team members to plan deliveries of estimated work given team work capacity.
    • Work with team members to schedule when work is ready for production intent versus incremental engineering development.
    • Communicate with outside stakeholders to provide work items at the agreed upon schedule commitment.
    • Develop methods for automated communications of scheduling status of work using numerous tools including but not limited to: Jira dashboards, Jira JQL, Jira plugins, Tableau, Jama, TEMPO, Testlink, Confluence, Monday.com, EOS. Knowledge of Python, Java or other languages to extract REST API information to build scheduling and forecasting metrics to assist in scheduling is also desirable.
    • Communicate status for work items weekly to stakeholder.
    • Identify items blocking or causing slowdown in reaching scheduled objective and work to resolve.
    • Apply data analytics to Identify process improvements that will reduce friction in work items and deliver at the original agreed upon time.
  • Work with test and development teams to provide direction and oversight of work priority including.
    • Identify ongoing team capacity and the ability to help leadership to prioritize capacity.
    • Identify improvements in team capacity ongoing to deliver low latent defect features at the lowest development cost.
    • Identifying the environment end points and what affected features are to be tested and schedule availability.
    • Review team and individual capacity metrics capability with each team member and work on action plan to keep team velocity within guidelines.
    • Monitor and report system outages and coordinate communications with test and development teams of system outages.
    • Participate in team technical review of feature or architecture requirements of products.
  • Work with the SW team in deriving solution approaches, software architectures, and designs to meet the end-user needs.
  • Work with customers on integration of our technology into their systems.
  • Understand all aspects of the software development lifecycle and apply data analytics to quantify and provide insight to process improvements.
  • Perform special projects, lab/field testing, and other duties as necessary.

What you'll need:

  • BS Engineering or SW Engineering or equivalent experience required. MS Engineering is desired.
  • 3 to 5 years expertise in software techncial project management involving embedded, real-time software for consumer electronic products.
  • PMP Certification a plus
  • Familarity with different product methodoloiges including; waterfall, Agile methology/training including Kanban
  • Minimum 5 years experience in software process improvement initatives
  • Extensive experience with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Expertise in scheduling and project coordinating tools such as Microsoft project, Monday.com, Jira scheduling plugins, EOS and alike.
  • Expertise in C/C++.
  • Experience with C#, Java, HTTP, JSON, QT, Flutter, RUST, Python a plus.
  • Experience with advanced software development environments (IDE, compilers, operating systems, source management tools, and test tools).
  • Experience with software development tools such as Jira, Jama, Testlink, Confluence, Tempo, github.
  • Experience with testing methodologies, best practices and continuous integration
  • Experience with embedded, real-time software design and implementation
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Satellite receivers
    • Automotive audio and infotainment products (radio head units, navigation systems, MP3 connectivity, CD players, telematics systems, etc.)
    • Digital communications
    • Client/server communications (e.g. PC/device)
    • Internet Protocol products and technology
    • IPC Mechanisms - Sockets, Message Queues, Shared Memory, etc.
    • Communication security threat identification and prevention as applicable to automotive clients using SELinux, QNX or AAOS.
    • Automotive development lifecycles
    • Automotive SPICE methodologies and process
  • Working knowledge of best practices to deliver a low latent defect product capable of operating in an automotive production environment without updating over 15 years of operation.
  • Strong data organizational skills, feature tracking / scheduling and the ability to communicate concise status is required.
  • Comfortable working in matrix environment, coordinating activities of multiple teams in multiple sites not under line management control.
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
