Job Description
Job Objective:
Assists with the technical work in the administration, maintenance, and operation of SCADA, computerized distributed control, telemetry input, and computer systems for field operations.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Working knowledge of SCADA architecture design including control, measurement and safety systems for oil and gas production and pipeline facilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies, conduct site surveys and develop recommendations and cost estimates for the installation of new SCADA systems or for the upgrade of existing systems

  • Keep abreast of new SCADA related developments and technology in areas such as equipment, software, governmental regulations, advanced business applications, communications and Cybersecurity

  • Perform vendor account management to include quotation reviews,selection of vendors, assistancein defining contract terms and monitoring ofvendorrelationship and performance

  • Participates in SCADA Industrial Control System (ICS) reviews and maintenance

  • Utilize and implement management of change processes for safety related changes to SCADA systems

  • Documentation of new and existing systems and applications

  • Coordinate, lead and direct the work of others, both internal and external, for small to medium sized projects

  • Ability to read, understand and troubleshoot electrical prints and diagrams

  • Assist IT field analysts in diagnosing SCADA related problems

  • Mentor junior level field system analysts through training and review of their work plans and system installs

  • Coordinate and participate in the design, development and administration of standards and documentation for all SCADA configuration databases, applications programming and core SCADA functions

  • Enforce adherence to corporate SCADA standards

  • Apply current ICS Cybersecurity principles and best practices

  • Apply process safety principles and best practices

  • Design, program, and troubleshoot HMI applications to include graphical design, scripting, and database queries on platforms including Wonderware Intouch/Archestra, Cygnet and ClearSCADA

  • Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation

  • Supports company vision and mission

  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetingsConfigure and maintain SCADA server infrastructure hardware and software

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • (5) years of SCADA or automation experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the company

  • Strong ability in diagnosing and solving SCADA related problems while maintaining patience, professionalism and courtesy

  • Understanding of SCADA systems as it pertains to administration, programming, database administration, telemetry and PLC/RTU hardware selection

  • Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced demanding work environment

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and other departments

  • Solid understanding of desktop computers, printers and general office applications

  • Good written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to translate complex computer/information systems information into an organized and presentable manner

  • Ability to complete multiple and diverse tasks of differing priorities

  • Understanding of server hardware, virtualization and Microsoft operating systems.

  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
    One or more of the following required:

  • HMI applications: Intouch/Archestra, Cygnet, ClearSCADA or similar programs

  • PLC applications: RSLogix, GE Proficy or similar programs

  • Proficiency preferred with OSIsoft/PI Historian

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in engineering (electrical, chemical, petroleum, mechanical), computer science, or a closely related field
