The Opportunity:

Join the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Worldwide Campus in this critical role on our Financial Aid team. The Manager of Financial Aid Operations and Verification Processes assists in planning, organizing, training, and supervising the Financial Aid department to administer federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds and services. This role also performs standard financial aid duties such as needs analysis, verification, loan processing, appeal process, Return of Title IV Funds and satisfactory academic progress monitoring. The Manager will assist the Director of Financial Aid in maximizing communication about the various financial aid programs and improve service to students.

Job Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee staff responsible for student correspondence including document imaging and requests for information. Ensure that requests are done within the required federal regulatory time period.

  • Work closely with Daytona Beach Operations Team to keep all software programs updated.

  • Provide leadership and training on federal, state, and institutional changes and improved processes.

  • Provide leadership and training on financial aid processes, entrance/exit loan counseling, and verification policies and procedures.

  • Assist with the reconciliation of award programs in compliance with federal, state and institutional requirements.

  • Assist with managing and maintaining financial aid policies and procedures.

  • Maintain verification manual.

  • Train staff when financial aid policies and procedures change.

  • Assist with daily quality reports and counsel the Worldwide Campus students regarding financial aid eligibility.

  • Assist with daily issues with Direct Loan and notify the Director of Financial Aid of any major issues.

  • Provide assistance to students regarding programs, and inform them of their rights and responsibilities associated with those programs.

  • Apply student aid awarding policies and procedure to determine what levels of financial assistance to offer students.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all federal, state, and institutional regulations and related office policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of military educational benefits and their effect on student's financial need.

  • Advise students on debt management and financial planning in relation to college costs, particularly loan programs.

  • Evaluate the eligibility of applicants for financial assistance.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of other University offices' practices that affect financial aid (Admissions, Records and Registration, Student Financial Services, etc).

  • Manage and assist staff on daily workload to ensure established turnaround times are met.

  • Coordinate the overall management of Financial Aid Department.

  • Assist in the development and prepare necessary reports for the monitoring of financial aid award amounts to assist in the prevention of any regulatory violations and over awards of funding allocations.

  • Oversee third party operations for financial aid. Train and monitor third party operations in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulation.

  • Attend and provide feedback to third party management and other ERAU departments.

  • Maintain knowledge of student eligibility as required for financial assistance in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines to award accordingly to include student aid award procedures to determine what levels of financial assistance to offer student.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree*

  • 5-10 years of related professional experience

* An Associate's degree combined with 5-10 years related experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree requirement.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of information systems.

  • Technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems and Internet end-user applications.

  • Experience with high volume, sophisticated computerized environment using multitude of software packages.

  • Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain software applications and peripheral equipment used by the department.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with staff, the public, and the university community.

  • Ability to handle complex administrative details with experience working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and with frequent interruptions of work.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to and promote a team environment.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Prior financial aid work experience.

  • Prior experience working with the Financial Aid Module of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
