Job Description

Primary Purpose

Supports technical accounting, financial reporting and policies for Sempra Infrastructure. Key responsibilities include the analysis of complex accounting issues as well as the review and assessment of material agreements.

  • Technical Accounting: Contributes technical accounting support related to complex and non-routine transactions for the C-level executives, CFO and Controller to ensure that financial information is accurate and in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS, including the analysis of accounting principles and assessment of accounting impacts; participates in the workflow associated with technical accounting, specifically identification of potential issues, accounting research, internal and external discussions, documentation, whitepapers, and finalization of related accounting positions and conclusions in order to ensure financial integrity and accurate reporting of financial results.
  • Financial Reporting: Contributes to the compilation, preparation, and review of financial statements and related disclosures for public reporting purposes in compliance with GAAP and SEC rules and regulations (10Q/10K); reviews all financial information monthly and financial statements and footnotes support on a quarterly basis; coordinates information and updates to and from executive management and other departments; provides detailed review of financial statement analytics; reviews subsidiary stand-alone audits.
  • General Accounting: Assists with complex accounting, budgeting and forecasting work in the computation, recording, reconciling and reporting of financial transactions; reviews budgeting and modeling assumptions for accounting; partners with cross-functional departments in reviewing/analyzing financial information and assumptions requiring strong analytical skills and use of independent judgment.
  • Policies: Oversees governance to ensure compliance with policies; assists with the business unit Approval & Commitment Policy and related delegations of authority; establishes or drafts accounting policies; coordinates with corporate teams on consistent application of policies.
  • New Accounting: Monitors, interprets and analyzes rulemaking activity in the US GAAP/IFRS accounting and SEC reporting environment; oversees the implementation of new accounting and reporting standards.
  • Other: Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • 8 or more years previous experience.
  • Strong knowledge of technical accounting acquired through Big Four experience is required.
  • Ability to use productivity tools such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively complex accounting issues in a clear and concise manor to senior management.
  • Analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA and/or other professional certificates/advanced degrees.

HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 2-3 days per week.
