HDR is currently seeking a Controls Engineer to join our fast growing Building Engineering Services group in Denver.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Controls Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Coordinate workload through design development and construction document phases to complete documents on schedule
  • Conduct systems integration of the I&C system, including programming of PLCs/PCs and HMI customizing for various control software programs
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
  • Write and edit I&C specifications, and select equipment and monitoring/control devices
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
  • Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed
  • Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of this position
  • Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Electrical, Electrical Engineering or closely related field
  • PE required
  • Minimum of 5 years applicable experience
  • PLC/WTP and WWTP software programming experience
  • Hands-on experience designing I and C Systems, including schematics and loops
  • Experience managing controls projects
  • Knowledge of Modicon, Wonderware and Interlution
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience with an A&E/Consulting Engineering firm

Benefits and Compensation:

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $75,614 - $108,020 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
