Title: Entry Level Facilities Maintenance Technician
Reports To: Manager of Facilities
Summary: Our Building Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the ongoing maintenance and repair for all Paslin properties (5 buildings across Metro Detroit). Our buildings have both office and manufacturing spaces. Successful candidates will be responsible for plumbing, electrical, access control, and HVAC maintenance as well as other duties assigned by the Facilities Manager. We're looking for an outstanding employee who is self-motivated, has initiative, and can anticipate problems before they occur.
What You Will Be Doing:
  1. Perform building maintenance, repair work, and ground maintenance activities in compliance with accepted practices and procedures
  2. Determine and gather necessary supplies and materials before beginning any maintenance or repair project
  3. Operates hoists, cranes, forklifts, and power tools
  4. Perform duties without supervision in productive and safe manner
  5. Work on and/or manage multiple projects simultaneously
  6. Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs of the building
  7. Complete assigned work orders timely and efficiently
  8. Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  9. Travel between buildings to address any emergency facilities issues
What You Will Need:
  1. 6 months or more experience in commercial facilities maintenance
  2. Previous experience with commercial plumbing, electrical and carpentry work
  3. Knowledge of any of the construction trades; electrical, plumbing, painting, and/or carpentry
  4. Knowledge of methods and materials used in commercial building maintenance, repair and cleaning
  5. Ability to read and use meter to measure electric current
  6. Ability to operate hand tools, forklifts, aerial lifts, overhead cranes, mechanical and/or plumbing equipment
  7. Must have own tools
Work Environment: This position operates in both an office environment and plant environment
Physical Demands: Candidates must possess: strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work with frequent walking. Must be able to climb and descend ladders, to operate a variety of tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and to distinguish colors in wiring; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Finger dexterity needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard and to operate tools and equipment. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier (with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment).
Expected Hours of Work: This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend and overtime work
Travel: Must have the ability to travel between (5) different Paslin facilities. A valid driver's license is required
