Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

    Geological fieldwork such as soil and rock core logging; geologic mapping; geohazard assessments, drilling and contractor oversight, under the supervision of an experience and licensed professional;
  • Project planning and coordination including subcontractor procurement, sampling and health and safety plan development, project management support with client and regulatory interfacing;
  • Preparation of geologic maps, geologic cross sections, tables, and figures; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, memoranda, work plans, specifications, and proposals.

Here are some other things you should know about a typical practitioner position with Geosyntec:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 60%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in geology or other related geosciences. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology, engineering geology, civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.G.,P.E.) (valuable)
  • Ability and interest in obtaining professional licensure in the State of California. (valuable)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of related experience with geologic field work, geotechnical drilling, rock coring, or geologic mapping. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Experience with geographic information system (GIS) software. (valuable)
  • Experience in identification of geohazards. (valuable)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to project sites as needed. (required)
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Based on state and federal requirements, this position may be hourly and overtime-eligible or salaried eligible for straight-time overtime. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Wage: $29.50/hourly or $64,480 /yearly / Maximum Wage: $31.00/hour or $93,270/year (San Diego)
