Field Service Technician
Responsibilities
Provide technical service to support the diagnosis and resolution of service returns or warranty claims in a timely fashion.
Serve as a part time field service tech to augment peak service work at customer locations.
Support customer integration and commissioning of XALT systems during product development and aftersales operations; ensure customers' adherence to XALT product guidelines and serve as the XALT commissioning authority for new applications.
Provide technical service for customers, along with Quotes and reports about inspection findings.
Lead root cause investigations using XALT's 8D tools and methods. Efficiently seek technical expertise from other cross functional teams within XALT when necessary.
Training customers and their stakeholders on system functionality, test, operation and repair best practices.
Organize and document all customer activity for tracking and developing best practices.
Consult with electrical, software, systems, and mechanical teams when intensive diagnostic work is required.
Define and disseminate customer preventative maintenance and service procedures.
Provide an active role in the development product documentation.
Assist with the fabrication of prototypes and test apparatus to meet development needs.
Participate in regular high voltage and battery system safety training.
Qualifications
Knowledge of medium and heavy duty truck markets and their propulsion systems (hybrid technology preferred).
Experience with high-voltage systems, batteries, is highly desirable.
Literacy in Windows, MS Office, and CAN( Vector) tools is highly desirable.
Hands-on skills to support troubleshooting of product electrical, Hydraulic, mechanical, and software issues.
Understanding of 8D or similar root cause investigation tools and methods.
5-10 years of experience in a related field.
3 year minimum experience working with customers in a field service and/or new product launch environment; educating customers on new product features and resolving issues.
Comfortable working at remote customer facilities as well as in a lab or machine shop environment.
ASE certs, Automotive R&D experience, Automotive/Heavy Equipment repair technician experience is desired.
College/University Degree in Technical or Engineering Field is desired.
