The role
The Quality Control Inspector reports directly to the Quality Control Engineering Manager. This position manages the gauge calibration program for the facility. Responsible for the CMM programming. Coordinates first article inspection and general inspection of components per engineering specifications.
Job Responsibilities
Create and maintain CMM Programs
Perform first article/PPAP inspections
Manage the gauge calibration program of Cognex's operations
Work with Supplier Quality to manage and maintain NPI incoming inspection program
Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing and Product Engineering on troubleshooting and projects as required
Support with root cause investigation of internal issues and customer complaints as needed
Perform gage R&R studies on new and existing gauges as needed
Conduct internal audits per schedule & support 3rd party quality audits as needed
Provide training in the use of the CMM and inspection instruments as needed
Ensure product entering NPI meets the design requirements by confirming dimensional characteristics, visual/cosmetic attributes, functional operation and supporting documentation review
Manage NPI quarantine & quality inspection inventory received in from suppliers
Support to develop procedures, maintain quality systems and metrics
Perform other duties and tasks as directed by the Quality Control Engineering Manager
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good communication skills
3+ Years CMM machine programming experience
3+ years of experience managing a calibration program
3+ years of experience completing first article inspection reports
Ability to gather, analyze measurement data and reporting
Must be proficient in blueprint reading, basic measurement tools and devices
Proficient with PC-DMIS CMM Software programming
Education:
High School diploma as a minimum
Associates or technical degree preferred
Certified Quality Technician or Inspector preferred
