Do you think you have what it takes to be a great leader and grow a successful area business? HDR is searching for our next Texas Gulf Coast Construction Services Lead to come in and help take us to the next level.

The Texas Gulf Coast Construction Services Lead will oversee construction services delivered by the Transportation Business Groups in the Texas Gulf Coast area. Additionally, this role will help drive field service pursuits in the Transportation Business Group.

The primary duties for this role include responsibility for Construction Engineering and Inspection, Project Controls, staff supervision, pursuit management and quality control.

  • Will manage and facilitate pursuits for the Texas Gulf Coast Region in construction services as well as assisting with oversight and training of construction personnel assigned to multiple Business Groups.
  • Work with regional and national transportation personnel with respect to opportunities for alternative delivery mechanisms for transportation projects including design-build program management procurement services quality programs and other related opportunities as they relate to construction services.
  • Capable of performing additional construction services activities including review of contract document terms and conditions; performance of constructability and value engineering reviews; construction estimating; schedule preparation and reviews; coordinating expediting and reviewing construction submittals RFIs; monitoring and resolving contract changes; controlling the project budget and schedule; coordinating and managing project quality assurance and control and inspection services (including inspection reports); monitoring staff compliance with the Health and Safety Program through communication and inspections; and project setup and temporary facilities.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field
  • 10+ years management experience and various aspects of construction planning
  • PE license
  • Experience with pursuit and staff management is required.
  • Must have recent experience delivering Construction services in the Texas Region to Transportation clients (Roads Bridges Highways Rail/Transit Aviation).
  • Significant previous experience in the transportation construction field is required.
  • Must have strong people skills and the ability to interact with the design team.
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference given to candidates local to the Texas Gulf Coast area, particularly Houston
  • TxDOT experience
  • Experience with estimating software (Timberline preferred) scheduling software (Primavera P6) and project management software preferred.

Physical Expectations/Requirements:

  • Must be able inspect any work on site without any physical assistance (such as ladders, man-lifts, underground structures, traverse uneven and irregular surfaces) except that which would normally be provided by the contractor's personnel.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and email.
  • Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments.
  • Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Be able to operate a vehicle day or night.
  • Travel may be required at times.
