Job Title: Early Head Start Education Specialist for Home-Based

Position Summary:

This position is accountable for the supervision of Early Head Start home based visitors and the coordination of day-to-day operations for this model.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide consistent, reflective supervision to the home-based staff.

2. Engage staff in periodic reflection and planning efforts to improve the program and better meet the needs of participants.

3. Provide an objective, through evaluation of each home visitor that is linked to a professional development plan.

4. Create a team of home visiting staff who support one another to deliver high-quality, home b-based services.

5. Promote collaborative and strength-based practices with home visiting staff and families to promote positive and goal-oriented relationships.

6. Meet regularly with home-based visiting staff to communicate current program information and provide assistance and support to staff with their caseloads and day-to-day operations.

7. Have an extensive knowledge of the Head Start Performance Standards.

8. Use program data to assist in making continuous improvements to the home-based program and Early Head Start program in general.

9. Regularly check home visitors; documentation for completeness and clarity as well as to ascertain information about their work and the functioning of families.

10. Exhibit the ability to have respectful interactions with participating families and home visitors, regardless of cultural or socioeconomic background or other factors.

11. Model good communication skills, empathy and specific intervention techniques.

12. Emphasize accountability (documentation, confidentiality, program fidelity) in a manner that focuses on program enhancement and home visitor professional development.

13. Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in child development, Early Childhood Education, Human Services or related field and three years' experience or master's degree in above field and two years' experience. Master's degree and/or certification preferred.

2. Supervisory experience preferred.

3. Reflective supervision skills and experience preferred.

4. Knowledge of best practices related to infant/toddler and home-based curricula, instruction, standards, screenings and assessments.

5. Knowledge of the PAT curriculum, supervise and monitor the implementation of the curriculum.

6. Experience working with pregnant women and teens.

7. Working knowledge of community agencies and resources to support staff with a comprehensive and individualized approach.

8. Experience with facilitating groups.

9. Successful experience working with at-risk children and families.

10. Possesses highly refined communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

11. Organizational skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision.

12. Ability and experience in working as a member of a team.

13. Skilled in the use of Microsoft office Suite including Word, Power Point, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to work with new technologies.

14. Such additions and alterations to the above qualifications as the Program Administration and Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Additional Requirements:

1. Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR Clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).

2. School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
