Job Summary

This is a part time (0.45 FTE) hospitalist position covering our two downtown hospitals.

  • Excellent team culture provides very low turnover.
  • 7/7 shifts; Tuesday through Monday
  • Full Time does 175 shifts per year with 7 Back Up shifts dispersed throughout the year.
  • Rounding day shifts, admitting afternoon shifts, very little night shifts required.
  • Sweet spot for rounding at 16 for single physician rounding.
  • Strong relationship with Intensivists.
  • Full complement of Specialists
  • No procedures required but available as part of Procedure Team if interested.
  • Large group provides some flexibility for trading shifts.
  • Hospitalists are encouraged to become involved with committee work, leadership, and teaching.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
  • Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
  • Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
  • Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
  • Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
  • Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
  • Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.
  • Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.

    Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.

Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
