Description

Race & Sports Lead Ticket Sellers at Dover Downs will exude professionalism and display friendly and superior customer service while providing rapid and accurate ticket selling and cashing services to the guests of the race and sports book.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Handle selling and/or cashing tickets in accordance with departmental policy and ensure compliance with Delaware Harness Racing Commission regulations and Delaware Lottery regulations.
  • Make payment on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verifying tickets and payoffs.
  • Ensure that all guests and fellow employees are treated with the utmost courtesy and respect.
  • Project a professional and friendly demeanor and remain attentive to all guests' needs during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure that Race & Sports operations personnel are informed of all guests' requests for service.
  • Maintain and balance an assigned cash drawer.
  • Close cash drawer in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Ensure that all transactions are executed in an accurate and expedient manner.
  • Promote the use of Capital Club cards and act as an ambassador of Dover Downs.
  • Ensure that Race & Sports operations personnel are notified of any suspicious activity.
  • Notify Race & Sports operations personnel of the need for supplies.
  • Stock seller stations with supplies and keep all areas neat and clean.
  • Assist in stocking information stations and notifying Race & Sports operations personnel of the need to replenish programs, tip sheets, odds sheets, sports information sheets, etc.
  • Work additional hours on short notice as requested by Race & Sports operations personnel should staffing situations arise.
  • Provide operations assistance upon request.
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Work safely, following all established safety rules and regulations
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors and guests
  • Follow all relevant policies and procedures

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required
  • Prior cash handling experience preferred
  • Must attend departmental training on specific Race & Sports Book terminals and Horse Racing terminals and pass a proficiency test on both
  • Must attend yearly Title 31 Compliance Program training and achieve a mastery level of oversight
  • Must possess good communication skills and listening abilities
  • Must perform calmly, quickly, and accurately in a high-stress, time-sensitive environment
  • Must maintain a professional, clean, neat, and well-groomed appearance and report to work in appropriate attire.
  • Must be able to obtain regulatory credentials from the Delaware Harness Racing Commission and the Delaware Lottery
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to report to work on time as scheduled
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English
