Language Pay Incentive is available for employees who utilize their skill in Spanish or ASL 30% of the time or more and pass a basic fluency test. The $2,000 Annual Base Pay adjustment is spread out over the year.
Examples of Duties for Success

Direct Patient Care

  • Provides and ensures quality health maintenance and therapeutic care for patients of all genders and ages who are seeking sexual health care services in Adams County Health Department clinics.
  • Practices in accordance with established protocols. Consults with the physician as needed.
  • Uses plain language and interpersonal skills to effectively interacts with patients and clients from a diverse population. Uses empathy and listening skills to provide counseling and educational instruction in the promotion of health, use of medication or medical interventions, and for the prevention of disease.
  • Conducts physical examinations on patients, including examination of the breasts, abdomen, pelvic, rectal area, and related testing (Primary HPV screening, cervical cytology, STI testing, wet preps, POC testing). Effectively employs working knowledge of anatomy and physiology to explain the physical exam to the patient.
  • Uses current working knowledge to conduct common screening, diagnostic tests, and clinical skills in a diagnosis and treatment methods of common gynecologic problems including sexually transmitted infections.
  • Teaches and counsels individuals, families, groups, and other health providers about health, family planning, sexually transmitted infections, wellness, and illness. Promotes health maintenance and disease prevention.
  • Consults with the program consulting physician about high-risk patients and patients with abnormal tests/examination results.
  • Proficiently reviews medical histories and updates charts, recording all aspects of examines and patient visits.
  • Determines and prescribes appropriate contraceptive methods based on patient medical history, examination results, and patient's personal preferences.
  • Determines and prescribes appropriate treatments for Sexual Transmitted Infections, including presumptive treatment and Expedited Partner Treatments.
  • Complete appropriate referrals and follow-up based on Colorado Title X requirements and program protocols.
  • Performs related services in specialty areas including IUD insertion and removal and Nexplanon insertion and removal.
  • Opportunity to perform colposcopy or LEEP procedures and instrumented IUD removals depending on education, skill level and certification, as appropriate.

Clinic Operations

  • Provides hands-on instruction to students, interns, and new employees.
  • Exercises independent judgement and demonstrates the ability to seek supervision and consultation.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other Adams County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
  • Travel may be required to any Sexual Health Program clinics as need for efficient clinic operations. Travel may be determined on the day of work, based on program and clinic needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Emergency Preparedness Duties

  • Completes trainings identified as appropriate for this level employee.
  • Employee participates in all exercises and drills on emergency preparedness and response, as required.
  • Employee responds, as required, to support emergencies, incidents and events with a public health and medical impact.

  • Equipment Used:
    • Must demonstrate proficiency in using PPE medical equipment used to conduct physical examinations including stethoscope, speculums, point of care tests, as well as colposcope and microscope equipment as appropriate to skill level.
    • Computer use including electronic health record, internet, email, Microsoft Office Suite. Must be able to learn and become proficient with equipment and software programs as required to perform assigned duties effectively and efficiently.
More Qualifications for Success

Education and Experience:

  • Completed a Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife educational program and is certified as a Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner (WHNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by a national certification organization and meet state requirements for licensing or certification as an WHNP, FNP or CNM.

License/Certification:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • CPR certification
  • Prescriptive Authority

Special Qualifications: Must demonstrate proficiency in provision of women's health care, family planning and sexually transmitted infection services.

Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.

Working Conditions and Physical Abilities:

  • This role includes occasional physical activities such as ascending/descending stairs; moving oneself into different positions to provide patient care; standing, walking, squat, and sitting for extended periods of time; moving about to accomplish tasks; reliable transportation to get from one worksite to another; moving people or objects as heavy as 100 pounds; communicating with others to exchange information verbally and in writing, operating medical equipment and keyboards/data entry devices. Requires constant physical mobility to prepare, sterilize, and clean clinic areas, assist patients in the reception and treatment areas, and to negotiate around equipment and chairs in the examination room.
  • This position requires travel to call clinics throughout the Metro Denver area on an as-needed basis with reliable transportation.
  • This role constantly communicates with others to exchange information by speaking, listening, and writing.
  • This position can expect no adverse environmental conditions as work is performed in an office building.
