HDR Engineering is looking for a Transmission Line Project Manager/Team Lead to join our growing and nationally ranked Power Delivery program.

The primary duties of a Transmission Line Project Manager/Team Lead include managing the execution of all aspects of high voltage electric transmission line projects of all sizes and complexity, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, and quality control, schedule, and budget management. Experience with transmission line, distribution line, and associated strategic services aspects (i.e. routing, permitting, public involvement, right of way acquisition) of projects is preferred, with strong technical experience in design preferred.

Duties also include building a local team of engineers and designers and leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver world class services to clients in the region and engaging with local and regional leaders in business development activities to support existing and new clients in the region.

Specific duties include:

  • Performs project management, staff supervision, and/or technical support activities.
  • Manage and lead transmission projects throughout an entire project life cycle.
  • Understanding and application of basic project management tools and techniques including the following: client goals and objectives, contract terms and project risk, work breakdown structures, project scope/schedule/budget, financial management and controls, including earned value, internal/external communication, team management, change management, and project closeout.
  • Develop and supervise a local transmission team and provide oversight over workload, quality, utilization, team morale, training, and performing annual performance reviews of team members.
  • May also be responsible for overseeing non-engineering components of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, construction management, and other services.
  • Leads the QA/QC process on projects and is committed to delivering world class quality.
  • Coordinate with marketing and technical leadership for business development. Leverage and/or develop client relationships to develop new transmission opportunities.
  • May direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more PM's, Project Engineers, EIT's, CADD/Designers, and administrative staff.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering degree.
  • 4 years of transmission line design experience required; distribution line design experience an added benefit.
  • 7 years of related experience including project leadership and staff management experience.
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license strongly preferred.
  • Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams and project staff and work-sharing with staff in other locations preferred

The expected compensation range for this position is $96,000-$138,000 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles are eligible for limited benefits.)
